Ardin Peak (1731m) is the highest peak in the upper reaches of the Arda River. The peak is reached from the village of Gorna Arda located 30km south of the town of Smolyan, in a small picturesque valley on both banks of the Arda River. The village is situated next to the border with Greece and has an altitude of about 1000m. From Ardin peak in clear weather you can see the White Sea. To reach Ardin Peak, one passes through the source of the largest river in the Rhodopes – the Arda River, which used to be called Arpesos.
