The rock formation “Momata” is located about a kilometer from the village of Shiroka Luka on the road to Devin, a hundred meters from the turn-off for the village of Varbovo. From a distance the rock resembles a maiden with a hump in her hand. It was formed under the influence of erosion of the rocks and the impact of external earth forces. The locals revived this rock with bizarre legends.
A legend says that at this place the beautiful maiden Kanya from the village of Shiroka Luka, prayed to be petrified to save her honor and faith from the persecuting Turks. The “Maiden” is a protected natural landmark.
