Not far from the Ilinden Meadows in the village of Gela, about 4-5 km. from Shiroka Luka, the ruins of a once large monastery have been discovered.
On its foundations is now built the small church “St. Toitsa”. The foundations of three churches from the early Christian period and necropolises have been uncovered here. Many legends and legends are connected with the existence of the monastery, one of which is that Patriarch Evtimiy was exiled here after the fall of Bulgaria under the Ottoman yoke.
