The Balieva water is located in the quarter. “Sredok”, in the western part of the town of Smolyan, on the road to the village of Mugla. There are 3 springs with the common name Baliyevata voda, which are considered to be healing. According to local people, their water cures various diseases – reduced vision, some internal and skin diseases.
There is a belief that on the night opposite St George’s Day the water has the strongest healing properties. Hundreds of believers and people in need flock from near and far to wash their eyes and pour water.

The direction to take is towards Mugla village and the Canyon of the Falls. About 300 m before the turnoff for the Canyon of the Falls, you will see an extension on the left by the roadside and a small marble plaque that reads “Earth, Air, Fire, and Baliyeva Water”. From here the trail starts, crosses a bridge over the river and reaches the three springs.
